Ultra Fast Zapping

Slow zapping between TV channels is annoying. When using the HESP protocol the average zapping time is 20 times faster than with industry standard low latency streaming approaches. With a zapping time of less than 100ms, the channel change will happen in the blink of an eye.

REDUCING BANDWIDTH

The HESP protocol is not dependant on using short GOP length segments, like current low latency approaches. This, combined with an optimised container format, results in up to 10% streaming bandwidth savings compared. Even while achieving sub-second latency.

Not all services require this ultra low latency. With the HESP protocol you can trade streaming latency for additional encoding latency, resulting in improved compression. This leads to streaming bandwidth reductions of up to 20%, compared to current industry standard low latency approaches, whilst achieving the same low latency.

COST EFFICIENT SCALING OVER STANDARD HTTP

The HESP protocol is based on standard HTTP, which is also used by streaming protocols such as HLS and MPEG-DASH. This allows you to scale HESP services using industry standard CDNs, allowing for a cost effective reach to global audiences.
